Day One Hundred and Sixty-Seven: Bridge Over the River Kaw

Here is a picture of the mighty Kansas River, also known as the Kaw (after the Native American tribe that lived on its banks).

Spanning the river are two of the biggest bridges in Lawrence (assuming Jeff and Lloyd have never stopped by), representing Vermont (left side, southbound) and Massachusetts (northbound) streets.

Just over the north bank of the river these two streets merge to form North 2nd Street.

On a side note, if the states of Vermont and Massachusetts had merged, would we be commemorating the Boston Maple Syrup Party? And could they come up with an easier capital city to remember than Montpelier? That one always through me for a loop.

:)
